OpsFlow: A Forward Deployed Engineer Challenge, Built in 2 Days with AI

OpsFlow began as the challenge brief for an internal Forward Deployed Engineer opening at NEXT Ventures. I completed it solo, end to end, with AI, in 2 of the 3 working days allowed. The company then pulled the opening and adopted OpsFlow as its internal operations and ERP portal. About 700 employees now use it.

Context

The brief allowed 3 working days to build an internal operations portal.

My role

I took the challenge on and built the portal alone, end to end, using AI, finishing in 2 working days.

What it does

The core is config-driven, multi-step approvals. A leave request, for example, goes from the employee to their line manager and then to HR. Once approved, an email goes out automatically and the leave balance is deducted.

The same approval engine handles salary certificate, payroll and advance-salary requests.

Stack

Next.js, Prisma and PostgreSQL, running on AWS.

Results

  • ~700employees use it
  • 2 daysbuilt, vs a 3-day brief
  • Soloend to end
